a very happy birthday to kristin
during her last visit, i had my little one and was very pregnant with my second so i could not run around with kristin as i would have loved to. the independent, self reliant, woman that she is, she figured out how to get around all over town and even took a day trips to switzerland and austria. she saw places i hadn’t a clue existed. at the end of each day she would come home and show us her photos. and we’d say things like “where’s that?” or “how do you get there?” these are some of my favorite ones. enjoy.

i met kristin in 1990, our first semsester at UTA. we had both filled out room-mate request forms with an attached lengthy personality questionaire. when we met, we both wondered how on earth they put us toghether since we were nothing alike. we figured out that according to the questionaire, we were night and day. maybe that was the point. perhaps an exercise in creative compromise and adaptation skills to go along with your college education? well, it worked. as much as we drove each other nuts, we managed to become friends. some of the best times in my life i had with her and the worst times i am grateful to have had her by my side. she is more than a friend, she is my sister. last night i figured out i have laughed and cried with her for half of my life. that’s a long time. a lifetime friend, courtesy of a mix-up at the UTA housing department.
