a rekindled spirit

in everyone’s life at sometime, our inner fire goes out. it is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. we should all be grateful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
-albert schweitzer (1875-1965)
i love the life that i have lived. it is an extraordinary life, one that has taken me from my native land of eritrea, to saudi arabia, greece, and the united states. i have met and have the pleasure of knowing very special people. i have experienced countless incredible, unimaginable opportunities. including over 13 years in corporate america.
now when i look back, i realize that i have never, ever felt- here i am. i have arrived, i’ll stay..i’ve always felt as if i were just journeying through, waiting for the next event to happen, or the next stage…that is until i became a mother. in my opinion, a gift and the most rewarding role of my life.
this time in my life is like no other. i consciously feel my happiness on a daily basis. even on bad days i know that there is no other place i want to be and nothing else i would rather do. i cannot remember a time in my life when i constantly had such a light heart that feels too big for my body and laughed so often. i am in awe of my children, they are true joys to behold.
i am a citizen of the world. i carry eritrean blood, am an american by right, and now a german by association. the rare human being that is my husband and our beautiful children are german. we live in a tiny village in germany, at the swiss and austrian borders. it is considered the most beautiful part of germany.
i love bead and wire jewlery, vintage materials, preloved and hand made items. spending time at garage or estate sales, flea markets, vintage and antique stores, for me is pure bliss.
i enjoy creating memories for my children. i delight in reading to them, painting with them and baking for them. from playing a game together to what i put on our dinner table, i feel delight. the creativity that is fostered in doing this is limitless.
i have arrived with a rekindled spirt. and my name is elsa
