dancing under the full moonlight!

here i am! and so delighted to finally be at the bloglandia ball! the rochambeau chauffeur was supposed to pick me up but i was so busy in the kitchen that i missed my ride!

i was preparing h’orderves when i heard what leslie and jack were bringing. i thought to myself screw this! i would rather eat that!
i almost settled on flowers until i suddenly remembered they were being provided by rodrigvitzstlye!
.
but i could not leave behind the bigger- than- my- hand pink flower that i had picked for somepinkflowers this afternoon.

i already knew that jill was bringing refreshments so i figured i’d bring some coffee in my jebena (the coffee pot) and fingals (the cups) to compliment my dress.
who doesn’t enjoy coffee after a good meal? or a fine essprsso which is what good eritrean (or ethiopian, we share everything but language) coffee tastes like.

i’m wearing my favorite eritrean dress and notice that i’m wearing my netsela (the shawl) as i should, to the right to show that i’m a married woman. or was it to the left? i can never remember.

i honestly can never remember but this is my favoritre way to wear my netsela and because i don’t like symbols that mark people or myself . besides, it’s just hard to keep it in place swung over to one side or the other. but i guess in a conservative and reserved culture, there’s gotta be a way to let them know if you are available or not!

after dancing all night until my feet hurt, you’ll see me walking out with my netelsa over my shoulder becuase it will be just way too hot in that ballroom and i’ll be too tired to care.

i love everything you shared.
[i nibbled on an olive and cracker
as i have been dancing now for hours!]
thank you ever so for the pink flower!
it is more beautiful than it is large,
if that makes any sense…
i love your dress!
wasn’t this fun to do?
!!!!
we are all part of a world-wide party
featuring creative blogette-friends…
i don’t like symbols that mark people either,
but i think it is an honor to your heritage
to share your customs and beliefs
with others
who only want the best for you…
we are all so different
and yet the same…
we are
woman who are daughters–
and maybe mothers, too–
who want our families to be safe and healthy…
while we forget everything for a bit
and dance under the moon that shines down the same
on all of us…
not much to ask, really…
lets go dance!

September 27th, 2007 at 1:24 amI so enjoy meeting fellow attendees to this magical soiree! Your dress is gorgeous. I don’t believe in marking people either, with shawls or earrings or whatever it may be…left, right, center……..we are global dancers whirling around meeting one another and learning all sorts of interesting things. I am so happy to meet you and to learn a thing or two! I hope you’ll stop by my Cafe for a moment!

September 27th, 2007 at 4:15 amI’m pretty much speechless. I’d like to just rub out spf’s name from the bottom of her post or wake Jack from the couch in the next room and have him tell me what to write, but since I can’t do that . . . I’ll just say . . . yeah, what she said, meaning spf. My Most Favorite Blog Wordsmith Of All Time.
I lover your dresses too.
