delight someone: a simple vase

gladiolas from my garden in my favorite housewarming gift

someone very dear and near to my heart is coming over for tea this afternoon.

i was delighted to recieve a beautifully wrapped gift from her when we moved into our home a few years ago- my delight turned to enchantment when i discovered a long stem vase inside with a note attached. it read, “you are invited into my garden each week to pick a bouquet of flowers. may your home be filled with love and happiness. congratulations!”

it is one of the most thoughtful gifts anyone has ever given to me. i only wish that she was my next door neighbor so that i could just hop the fence to her heaven of a garden instead of having to drive all the way down to the lake.

i have always admired those who can imbue a gift with a bit of themselves, so that the “giving” rather than the “gift”, becomes the true treasure.

i am really looking forward to seeing my sweet friend today.

also looking forward to

homecoming: our trip to texas and seeing friends and family

gardening: experiementing with  growing kale for the winter

colors: the brilliance, gorgeousness, grandeur, and richness of autumn….one of the things i love and enjoy about living here

What a wonderful gift - and a wonderful friend!
Gifts from the heart, are always the best kind.
And tea with a friend, that’s one of the best ways to spend a day.
Hope you had a good visit - and wishing you a lovely trip visiting family and friends!

Hello, I just came across your post and I have to say, I do agree so much. I enjoy gifts very much when someone has put a lot of thought into. It means to me that I am really special for that person.
Thanks for that - made my day reading through blogs I enjoy!
